Billy Roberts is one of the UK’s leading Stage
Psychics, and is a published author with fourteen books to his
credit. He has been psychic since he was a child, and although he
began his early life as a professional musician touring Europe with
such names as Chuck Berry, The Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, The moody
Blues, Small Faces, The Kinks, to mention but a few, he only became
a professional medium when he was 34.
After serving
Spiritualist Churches all over the UK, America and Canada, in 1983
he founded The Thought Workshop, the Northwest’s very first Centre
for Psychic and Spiritual Studies and Alternative Therapies, opened
by Billy’s friend, the legendary Doris Stokes, and where some of the
UK’s top mediums worked. He has appeared on television all over the
world, and has presented his own 26 week Cable television series
entitled SECRETS OF THE PARANORMAL.
In 1995 Multimedia
commissioned him to present a series of videos entitled BILLY
ROBERTS INVESTIGATES THE PARANORMAL, on which Billy can be seen
visiting various haunted locations throughout the UK, long before
the popular television series Most Haunted was born. His best
selling autobiography was published by Harper Collins in 1995, and
the updated version of this is due to be published sometime in 2008.
In 2003 Sony commissioned Billy to feature in a documentary to be
released with their Playstation 2 Game, GHOST HUNTER, filmed on
location in New Orleans (mentioned elsewhere.)
His first
collection of Ghost Stories was published in 1975, and some of his
stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and BBC 3 as well as
Radio Merseyside.
Billy Roberts is currently working on a
new television series, and the Trinity Mirror Group published his
book, SPOOKY LIVERPOOL this year (2007). Trinity Mirror will also be
publishing his children’s book, THE MAGIC LOCKER, in May 2008, and
this is to be turned into a children’s stage musical, also to be
staged in 2008. Some of the proceeds of both the book and the
musical will be donated to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital ‘IMAGINE
APPEAL.’
Billy founded THE BILLY ROBERTS PARANORMAL STUDY
CENTRE, in the now famous Penny Lane in Liverpool. This was visited
by students from all over the world. Although the centre has now
closed, Billy still travels all over the world lecturing in
universities and colleges where his extensive knowledge of the
paranormal and metaphysical subjects is much sort after.
Billy has always been regarded as an extremely radical
medium whose work in the early days was greatly opposed by the
different fractions of the Spiritualist movement. He has always
stood by his beliefs, and although he has extremely strong views
about the paranormal and the occult, his wealth of knowledge does
make him stand out from his peers.
For the past two years,
Billy and Ciaran O’Keeffe, parapsychologist off the television
programme, MOST HAUNTED, have been jointly working on a book
entitled THE GREAT PARANORMAL CLASH, to be published in July
2008 by Apex Publications. Although the two are good friends, and
come from very different backgrounds, their combined efforts have
culminated into an excellent read for all those interested in the
paranormal.
The Scientist and the Clairvoyant is truly a
battle of minds, and a book that simply must be read. The two
friends have created a stage show based on the concept of the book,
and this is due to be staged on Broadway, New York, in 2008, as well
as the East End of London.
